Staff who work in Year 1/2
You are able to receive regular updates about events and other important events and other important information on Class Dojo. We will also upload photographs of our class during their time in Year 1-2, so that you can see what we are getting up to in class. If you still need to sign up to this, please ask Miss Lovatt for your unique code.
We have had lots of fun so far this year, learning lots of new things. Some of the topics we have covered in History and Geography include, ‘Where in the World is Barnaby Bear?’ and ‘Why is Stoke-on-Trent so special?’
In our English work, we have used books including, ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow’, ‘Orion and the Dark’ and ‘How to Find Gold’. Through these books, we have been exploring different writing styles such as, instructions, non-chronological reports and stories.
The children have worked hard in Maths, covering lots of topics. They have particularly enjoyed measures and learning how to tell the time. We have also practised our times tables and the children enjoy going head to head in a competition.
In the Summer Term, one of our Science topic titles is, ‘Are You Listening Carefully?’ Throughout this topic, we will be finding out how sound travels, how sounds is made, sources of sound and the structure of the ear.
After the Easter break, we will be learning about geographical features, climate and map work in Geography through a topic called ‘Safari’
As the weather is warming up, we can look forward to playing team games outside as part of our PE curriculum.
Home Learning activities have now been removed in preparation for next year. You will find Transition Activities and other information on the 'Transition' tab.
