Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic social teaching (CST) is rooted in Scripture, formed by the wisdom of Church leaders, and influenced by grassroots movements. It is our moral compass, guiding us on how to live out our faith in the world.
To help the children understand what CST is, there are seven principles which help inspire us how to live our lives (taken from the CAFOD website):
The dignity of work and participation
St Wilfrid’s attended The Good Shepherd Mass at Holy Trinity Church, Newcastle in May 2022. The Mass was a celebration of what the Father Hudson’s charity does in the area of North Staffordshire.
As a school, St Wilfrid’s raised an impressive £1100+ for Father Hudson’s in the Spring term. Each class chose their own way of raising money e.g. Y1/2 – Sponsored Walk, Y2 – Cake Sale, Y5 Penalty shootout against the teacher, Y6 Sponsored Run.
We are very proud of all our pupils for showing such charity and love for others!
