Our Class Saint – The Holy Family

Feast day – First Sunday after Christmas

The Holy Family is Jesus, Mary and Joseph. They loved and cared for one another and always trusted in God. As Reception's class saint, they help us learn how to live with faith and love every day. The Holy Family is a model for all Christian families. They show us how to be kind, helpful and respectful to the people around us. Their example teaches us the importance of looking after one another. Mary, Joseph and Jesus showed great love, patience and kindness in their family life. We can follow their example by being caring friends, listening to others and sharing God's love wherever we go.

The Holy Family is closely linked to the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Solidarity. Solidarity reminds us that we are all part of one human family and that we should care for and support one another. Solidarity grows when we remember that "we belong to each other" and are called to stand alongside our sisters and brothers, especially those who need help.

Mary, Joseph and Jesus lived in solidarity by supporting one another with love, patience and trust, especially during difficult times. Their example teaches us to be good friends, to include everyone, to help those who are struggling, and to show kindness to all people because we are all God's children.

This links beautifully to Reception because we can live out solidarity every day by sharing, caring for others, working together and making sure nobody feels left out. By following the example of the Holy Family, we help build a loving and welcoming community.
