Vision
Through the Diocese curriculum ‘Learning and growing as people of God’, and all the wonderful opportunities that our children are exposed to, they will hold Christ at the centre of everything that they do.
INTENT
At St Wilfrid’s, we place God at the centre of all that we do. God is the foundation for all that happens in our school and our lives. The task of handing on faith to future generations is a privilege and a responsibility. We aim to bring our children to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, giving them an in-depth knowledge of scripture that they can call upon.
IMPLEMENTATION
‘Living and Growing as People of God’ is the curriculum strategy for RE in the diocese of Birmingham. This provides a curriculum that utilises children’s intellect, hearts and imagination. It covers a systematic approach to the study of the Catholic faith and makes learning about our faith lively, interactive and relevant. It consists of four strands: The Liturgical Year; Scripture; The Sacraments and Living as Christians. This is supplemented with by work on the Class Saint and other religions. RSE is a developing area that is covered by the ‘Life to the Full’ programme provided by Ten:Ten.
IMPACT
Children at St Wilfrid’s will gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how their faith can guide, strengthen and support them in their lives. They will know the teachings of the Catholic Church so that they will be able to live their lives to the full as God wants them to developing as global citizens of the future.
